Mere Sands Wood Adventure
Lesson: Science
Class: Year 5 Year: 2024 - 2025
Year 5 enjoyed a fun trip out of school on Monday 4th November, when they visited Mere Sands Woods. Nestled amongst the peaceful agricultural landscape of Rufford, Mere Sands Wood is a true wildlife haven. With woods, lakes, meadows and heath meeting in one magical nature reserve the children enjoyed a great day out enjoying the flora and fauna. They were able to hunt for minibeasts, identify different species of trees using leaf charts and use their creativity building “dens” using resources gathered from the natural environment. They were even taught how to start a camp fire using flint, which proved tricky, but ultimately exciting and rewarding. A great day out!
