Extracurricular Clubs and Responsibilities
At Hatton Hill, we offer a range of extracurricular clubs, some support learning, but most most aim to develop interests and experiences - our priority is fun! Many of our clubs are based on the interests of our teachers and so change regularly throughout the year. Extracurricular clubs are particularly good for developing important non-cognitive skills, such as resilience, teamwork, and other social and emotional skills, which benefit our children's wellbeing and help them transition successfully into the world of work later in life.
Extracurricular activities can:
boost confidence and self-esteem
develop thinking skills
broaden social skills
improve time management
enhance academic performance
improve communication
develop staying power
ignite a new interest
There is a small charge for clubs which are not offered by our teaching staff. If this poses a barrier for any family, please contact Mrs James or Mrs Hickey in confidence. Local charity, Halle's Hub, helps our school ensure that all children can access clubs.
If your child is involved in a club or activity, or enjoys a hobby, outside of school, such as Scouting, baking or dance, please let us know so we can celebrate their achievements in the 'Celebrate' section of our website.
Keep looking at the back of our newsletter and checking this page for exciting clubs for your child(ren):

Responsibilities
At Hatton Hill, children are encouraged to undertake roles of responsibility. This begins with low-level monitor jobs, such as sorting the pencils, giving out books and checking the teacher turns off the lights when leaving the classroom. As children progress through the school, roles carry a little extra responsibility making the most of children's developing skill-set and maturity.
School Council
Elected by their peers, School Council members from Year 1 to 6 represent children's views on many issues. This helps ensure that the voice of the child is heard.
Reading Buddies
Children in Year 5 are trained to listen to younger children read. They provide opportunity to practise this key skill and they are excellent role models to younger readers.

Mini Police
In Year 6, every child has the opportunity to take part in the Mini Police project. The Mini Police work with Merseyside police to learn more about the role of the police and their role in serving our community. The children complete three events which focus on learning, service and enjoyment.
Dinner Hall Helpers
Junior aged children volunteer to help clear our dinner hall during the busy lunchtime period. They wipe tables and brush the floor. Their help is invaluable.
Dance Leads
At lunchtime, infant and junior children are given the opportunity to keep fit and have fun by dancing to action-based songs. This is lead by groups of Year 6 pupils and is very popular!
Litter Pickers
Our eagle-eyed litter pickers ensure that even the smallest amount of litter is removed from our school site.

Class Charts Organisers
A little team of helpers count and collate our Class Charts prizes so we can ensure that we always have a good stock level of exciting prizes. Once the orders are in, they fulfil them and deliver to classes.

Librarians
Alongside Miss Butcher and Mrs Stordy, our librarians help keep our library tidy. They are also trained to scan new books into the digital borrowing system and to log them on Accelerated Reader.
