Year 5 Autumn 2
Class: Year 5 Year: 2021 - 2022
In Autumn 2, Year 5 have explored the magical and mythical world of Spiderwick in English and Art. By writing from different points of the view, the children were able to immerse themselves into different characters from the good to the bad. We dove into the fantasy world to recreate some fantastic creatures, in Art, for our annual calendars with a 3D effect.
In Geography, we studied rivers and mountains, and were able to discover the journey of a river from source to mouth. This was completed as a first person narrative, using the River Severn as a case study. In addition, we explored the atlas, to become more familiar with the world around us. We had an exciting lesson learning about mountains, with the use of a potato! This allowed us to envision the contours of a mountain with an added fun element, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.
J5 completed their half term of swimming, developing their strokes and meeting objectives in the pool, whilst J6 improved their fitness through circuit training. In outdoor PE, Year 5 learned a new sport – tag-rugby. The children enjoyed working together to learn new skills and knowledge, which they put into practise in mini games.
We ended the term by completing our very own Santa Dash and Christmas Party, which the children participated in with ethusiasm. This rounded off a productive and hard working term - well done to all!
